Will Larcombe and Alex Colwell had worked together in another recruitment consultancy and decided to strike out on their own. They founded William Alexander Recruitment to offer a superior service to clients and candidates alike.
William Alexander was founded in 2010, followed by Stellarmann in 2020. Together, Wellcombe Group employ over 40 staff and have achieved a £33m turnover this year. Both companies support clients undergoing business and technological transformation, offering consultancy services or recruitment of permanent and contract staff.
We have deep expertise in the insurance sector, financial services, and central government – ensuring we meet diverse client needs with precision and care.
As technology reshapes business operations and demand for agile project delivery grows, Wellcombe Group is ideally positioned to help clients succeed in an evolving market.
Stellarmann launched as William Alexander Consulting before a brand repositioning in 2023, which helped to differentiate our services away from resource augmentation providers. Our name was inspired by the teams of all-stars that clients told us they value so much.
Stellarmann provides outcome based professional services, meaning bespoke teams tasked with delivering project milestones, from digital migrations to regulatory compliance.
In 2024, we delivered services on 153 projects and achieved a record client net promoter score of +89. We were also voted fastest growing consultancy at The Consultancy Awards.
William Alexander is an award-winning recruitment agency, having been placed in Recruiter Magazine’s Hot100 nine times.
Boasting a team of long tenured industry experts, we recruit contract and permanent IT and change professionals for the insurance industry. The agency is renowned for its personalised service, with in depth knowledge of client challenges leading to high CV to placement success rates.
In our latest survey, 98% of candidates and 100% of clients were satisfied with our service.
William Alexander also provides the research function that powers Stellarmann, meaning we own our own supply chain.

Every 6 months, as part of our commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, we ask for feedback from both clients and candidates (or associates for Stellarmann). Our most recent results show very high satisfaction across the board – and that our service is highly recommended.
Our values don’t sit on a shelf collecting dust. You feel them the moment you start working with us. Our people care about everything being to a very high standard.
We communicate constantly, to find the best solutions or just to see what everyone’s watching on Netflix. We do the right thing, even if sometimes that can be a bit difficult. And ultimately, we’re all about delivering results.
Our ‘measure twice and build once’ ethos ensures we really understand our client needs. Our genuine interest, attention to detail and personal touches elevate the quality of our service above the competition.
Our ethics mean we’re fair, honest and transparent, even if the news isn’t great. We avoid easy answers if they’re not in our and your longer term interests. Promises are kept. Feedback is constructive. BS is not OK.
Collaboration means an environment where there is no such thing as a silly question and everyone shares their time and knowledge generously. We partner with our clients and suppliers to achieve shared goals. We treat everyone with equal respect.
Our culture focuses on working hard to get the job done. We are positive and forward-thinking about finding solutions. We operate at a fast pace with high energy and are driven by our passion to deliver.
